Esther Coombs is a practicing artist living and working in Hampshire, who believes life is a story and that narrative is best told with drawings.
After Graduating from Middlesex University in 2003 Esther has worked in a variety of environments including vintage retail, museums such as the V&A and galleries before acknowledging the pull that returned her back to drawings and upcycling.
A cornerstone of Esther’s practice, the upcycled Drawn on Ceramic range works in a collection of sizes from the smallest, sweet little tea cups all the way through to cake stands suitable as a statement piece of a modern space to a functional stand for a wedding cupcake tower.
Her work in illustration to commission has really grown over the last year having worked on many small private commissions as well as projects for magazines, retail illustration, flat work and in store, a selection of tea illustrations for a beautiful tea house and windows for high-end fashion brand Nicole Farhi. Esther's love of drawing extends from the ceramic surfaces and onto almost anything; often working with vintage influence of collage of ephemera, her work echoes the strong lines and distinctive look of her illustrations for the upcycled Drawn on Ceramic Range.
