Ebru Özseçen

Ebru Özseçen is a Turkish artist who lives and works in Munich. She studied in Ankara at Bilkent University’s School of Architecture, Interior Architecture and Environmental Design Department. She has been artist in residence in Amsterdam, Vienna and Helsinki; in 2003 she was a guest artist at the Paris Recollets Institute. She has exhibited internationally in numerous group exhibitions including Istanbul Biennial (1997 & 99); Sonsbeek 9 (2001) and Sao Paulo Biennial (2002). Özseçen’s work covers a range of exploration from sculpture and strategies of interior design to video and photography. In her photographic and video works she has reiterated the concepts of time, perception, ratio and measurement. Her artistic expression stems from research in the fields of architecture and contemporary visual arts. Her subject matter concerns dualities like gender and public space, rendering and architecture, figure and abstraction, which focus on the individual in contemporary society. Her visual and tactile works have taken the form of installations in the fields of architecture, sculpture, photography, video, sound, animation, performance, objects and drawings.
