Jane Lyster

Lives and works in Eastbourne. She has over twenty years experience working as an artist and in the community. She worked for fourteen years with Same Sky, Brighton as artist in residence, performer and project manager. Lyster also has considerable experience in leading celebratory events and carnival commissions across the South East and London. For the last six years she has worked with The Towner Art Gallery, Eastbourne to deliver workshops for socially excluded young people. In this practice she uses a range of media including mobile phones, clothes and cameras to produce text, sound, still and moving image projects with young people. Lyster finds that this mixture has proved to encourage communication, spontaneous thoughts and unconscious actions for both herself and the participants. The latest collaboration has resulted in a series of mobile phone films, which were screened at an Eastbourne cinema.
