Bunting Forever beats one mile target

The year-long Bunting Forever project is now reaching its climax and the first lengths of bunting were hung in the Market Square on Wednesday 19 June.

It was a hugely exciting moment. All the hard work and patient craft that has gone into the making of the pennants is now out in the public realm for all to see. This project has involved so many people with every flag reflecting the character of the person who put the time into making it.

How Does Your Garden Grow

How Does Your Garden Grow took place on Sunday 17 June as part of the Love Architecture Festival 2012 led by the architects of Dover's Esplanade, Mike and Anna Tonkin Liu, together with DAD, planting up the shingle beds, where the original planting had not thrived.

DAD+ NFASP networking event

On 8 March DAD hosted a networking event over brunch at Turner Contemporary as part of NFASP's Grand day out in Margate. The aim of the event was to find out, through a structured conversation, whether there was a wish for a South East studios network and judging by the turnout, there is certainly some demand.

DAD joins in Jubilee celebrations

DAD joined in the Jubilee celebrations in the Market Square on 3 and 4 June, led by Dover District Council and Dover Town Council respectively, with jubilee-themed pompom and bunting making workshops.

There was a great atmosphere on both days with people of all ages coming out to enjoy the programme on the Big Screen.

More colourful pom poms for the Olympic Archway

Two recent workshops, the first on Saturday 19 May in Dover Discovery Centre for the general public and the second on 21 May for pupils of Whitfield and Aspen school, held as part of Dover District’s 100 days to go to the Paralympics celebrations around Dover’s Live Site, have resulted in many more colourful pom poms for the Olympic Archway commissioned by The World Famous.

The workshops were led by Dover-based artist Katherine Moloney  with help from Dover resident Caroline Gillings.

3 Watermark film crew back in Dover

We were very pleased to see Korinna McRobert, Cassie Beckley and Andrea Morris, core members of the Watermark crew back in Dover learning to crochet from Lesley Beatson during one of Julie Bishop’s knit and natter sessions at Amina's cafe, 22 Biggin Street Dover, CT16 1BH.

Help make a woolly garland

On Saturday 19 May Katherine Moloney will be leading a pom pom and bunting making workshop in the Teen Curve, Dover Discovery Centre CT16 1P from 10am - 4pm. The workshop is open to everyone so do come along.

The completed pom poms will be part of a garland display to be hung above the entrance to the underpass going towards the seafront in Biggin street, along the Torch relay route.

Dover Arts Development (DAD) is pleased to announce that it has been successful with its funding bid to Arts Council England and Kent Arts & Culture for a new 20-month project called War & Peace. The total grant is just under £95k.

Colourful pom poms made to celebrate 100 days to go

On Wednesday 18 April, as part of Dover District’s 100 days to go celebrations around Dover’s Live Site, DAD ran a workshop in Dover Discovery Centre, led by Dover-based artist Katherine Moloney from Dover with help from Dover resident Caroline Gillings.

Pupils from River Primary made a host of colourful pom poms, adding to the pom poms made in March by pupils at at St Mary’s C of E Primary School. The pom poms will be part of a garland display above the entrance to the underpass going towards the seafront, along the Torch relay route.
