PARK BENCH Video

From each park bench in Kearsney Abbey and Russell Gardens in Dover there is a different view – equally from each park bench each person’s view will be different as they daydream, remember or become lost in the landscape.

The idea of recording with drawings from direct observation falls into the tradition of Casino dal Pozzo’s paper museum and the other collections of visual records of the natural world that began in Europe in the sixteenth Century.

PARK BENCH brings Kearsney Abbey and Russel Gardens alive through the quality and diversity of creative practitioners from the talented amateur to artists with international careers living and working in Dover and the local area. During the summer of 2018 fifty-four visual artists and poets chose a park bench in Kearsney Abbey or Russell Gardens to draw and write from. The Park Bench video has woven these works together with the addition of five musicians and three of the poets voices on the soundtrack.
