Sycamores Class receive Explore Arts Award certificates

Schools and arts award

Clare handed out Explore Arts Award certificates to pupils in the Sycamores class at Temple Ewell CEP at a special pre-half term assembly. The pupils were visibly excited to receive their certificates and it was really rewarding to see how much they mean.

The Arts Award project was led by Louise Creane and Steph Wallace who are Arts Award Advisers. Class teacher Rachael Williams planned and executed a varied and exciting programme of print work and exploration of artists and arts organisations for her class to enjoy and develop their skills and knowledge. Working with Clare and Joanna was inspirational for the children.

“I hope they will all stay in touch with their creativity throughout their lives. I enjoyed the tour of the school afterwards: there is artwork everywhere and the school has its own arts council. A recent project was to create birds out of plastic milk cartons, which in its own small way helps with the huge explosion in the problem of plastic waste.” (Clare)

One of the pieces of artwork in the school premises, a mosaic, was created by DAD contributor Esther Coombs.
