DAD PRESENTS TOP PHOTOGRAPHERS AT LONDON ART FAIR

London Art Fair – SUBLET

A fortuitous meeting in London last year has resulted in Dover Arts Development (DAD) showing photographs of Dover at the upcoming London Art Fair in Islington. The invitation is from ALISN for SUBLET, one of 31 projects shown as part of Art Projects featured within the London Art Fair. Art Projects has become one of the most exciting sections of the Fair: solo shows, curated group displays and large-scale installations with galleries from across the world.

ALISN, like DAD an artist-led organization, is subletting its P 29 booth “to a selection of the most sophisticated artist-led projects in the UK,” according to artlyst, providing an innovative opportunity to a cross-section of artist-led spaces/projects, who mostly would not have considered showing in this environment, to raise their profile in the capital and create greater public awareness of their work.

SUBLET is one of the ten recommended contemporary art shows in London featured by freelance writer Paul Carey-Kent. DAD will be showcasing the work of six international photographers who have worked in Dover by invitation of DAD since its founding in 2006. Matthias Koch, who readers may have recently seen in and around Dover with his 1975 Mercedes fire engine, is one of the six. He was in Dover for three weeks last October as part of DAD’s War & Peace programme. The other photographers are Philippe Bazin, Pierre-Yves Brest, Goetz Diergarten, Nigel Green and Laura Padgett. The photographs will be screened and printed editions can be purchased.

Jon Linstrum from Arts Council England said “It’s great to see DAD getting more national exposure and their really interesting War & Peace project being seen more widely”

The London Art Fair is at the Business Design Centre London N1 0QH from January 16th – 20th 2013
