Visit to Dover Museum

Pebbles

I recently visited the Dover Museum to explore how the institution creates opportunities for its visitors to interact with the objects exhibited. I came across two Nineteenth Century image-objects that sparked my curiosity due to my research interests with the boundaries between the still and moving image and three dimensional space/perspective. Below are images of a Proximoscope and Zoetrope.  What is a contemporary response to these works? Is there a relationship between the temporalities inherent in these objects and in the processes of rock forming?
